The material used is know as Mild Steel also know as low carbon steel. It is manufactured in India.

Wash the kadhai woth soap and water well. Then soak it in starch water for 8 hours.
Wash it again, wipe it dry and apply a coating of cooking oil and gently wash with soap and water again. The kadhai should not be ready to use.
