Unit sterilizers are double ended with suitable interlocking arrangements between the doors. The effectiveness of the sterilization process is established initially by biological inactivation studies using microbial spore indicators and then at least oncea year by carrying out thermal mapping of the chamber. Filling machines are challenged initially and then at periodic intervals by stimulation trials including sterile media fill.
