Synopsis Alok Prasad, son of a powerful Babu Prasad, is a highly sensitive boy, involved in the study of music. Thanks to sister-in-law Geeta's indulgence, Alok manages to attend amusic college where he graduates with flying colors. On his return home, however, Babu Prasad insists that his son give up music and pursue law. Alok is unable to rebel, but continues to learn music from Sarjubai. Babu prasad is shocked to learn of this and has the "basti" destroyed and Sarjubai evicted. Alaap is the story of Alok's life thereafter. In the slums, he meets Ganesh, the son of a family driver. Allap is his story. It is the story of a youth caught in the vortex of his own conviction. it is the story of a conflict between two generations and raises many issues of social relevance. And above all, Alaap is the story of music.
